Despite being England’s leading 400m runner for half a decade, 2026 will be Amber Anning’s first shot at the Commonwealth Games title.

She became a household name at the 2024 Paris Olympics Games, winning two bronze medals in the 4x400m relay and mixed relay, as well as running an enormous national record in the individual final, notching a time of 49.29s.

In 2025, she became the first British female champion to claim the World Indoor title in Nanjing before finishing fifth at the World Championships in Tokyo.

Anning spent her childhood across Australia and Hove, but developed her talent in the US collegiate system with LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks.

Athletics and Para-Athletics
In front of a 30,000 strong crowd at the newly refurbished Alexander Stadium, Team England picked up a host of medals at Birmingham 2022.
