Shooting

Shooting will make a return to the Commonwealth Games when the sport features at the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the sport being based in the Gippsland regional Village. 

The event schedule will consist of shotgun clay target trap, 10m air pistol and 10m air rifle as well as Shooting Para Sport.

Team England competed in 19 events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. Former BBC Young Sport Personality of the Year Amber Hill, and Olympic medallists Ed Ling and Steve Scott were part of the team on the Gold Coast.

Team England placed third on the medal tale in Australia winning two gold, two silver and four bronze medals totalling eight.

Shooting Para Sport will be included in the Games for the first time, in what will be the largest para sport programme in Commonwealth history.

You might need to know...

In the rifle and pistol events athletes look to shoot as close to the centre of a target as possible with points scored according to their accuracy
Distance between the shooter and the target can vary as can the number of shots, time limits and the position the shooters must take up in order to fire
In shotgun competitions, athletes compete to hit clay targets which are released from set points on the range
The winner is the shooter who hits the most targets
