Team England marked the beginning of the quadrennial event in style by finishing top of the medals table in Hamilton, Canada with 25 gold medals. 

A 92-strong English team travelled across the world to win a total of 61 medals. 

David Cecil and Joyce Cooper were the standout names, winning three and four gold medals in athletics and swimming respectively.
