Acelya Toprak took her judo career to new heights when she claimed silver at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and is now back for a second helping in Glasgow.
The judoka came second at the 2017 European Championships and has gone from strength to strength ever since, also showing her class in the Continental Cup, winning gold at the Dubrovnik European Cup in 2021.
Toprak narrowly missed out on a -57kg Commonwealth crown in Birmingham, losing out to Canada’s Christa Deguchi.
Following a stint under the Azerbaijan flag, Toprak returned to the British set up in 2025 and immediately soared to medals at the Tallinn European Open and Guadalajara Grand Prix, setting her up perfectly for a second Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
