Sophie Coldwell was an integral part of the team which soared to a glorious gold at Sutton Park in the mixed relay event at Birmingham 2022.

The Gravesend-born triathlete took charge of the second leg, building on a healthy lead established by Alex Yee before Sam Dickinson and Georgia Taylor-Brown finished the job.

Coldwell also took part in the women's event and finished fourth, just 20 seconds off bronze.

She started her 2023 with a silver in the World Triathlon Series in Abu Dhabi, having previously medalled in both the UAE and Leeds, while also finishing seventh in the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Edmonton.

Prior to that she was crowned European champion in Tartu, Estonia, in 2018, the same year as she finished sixth at her maiden Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, while she has also won two World Cup races in sprint events in Tiszaujvaros and Cagliari.

Away from triathlon, she is an animal lover with dogs Poppy and Rocco, as well as chickens rescued from battery farming which she has named after drag queens.

After growing up near Nottingham, she now lives in Loughborough with fiancée Tom Evans, an ultra-runner.
