Born on Christmas Day, Jessica Gordon-Brown will be hoping for a golden present in Birmingham.
The 26-year-old has many strings to her bow having arrived at Brighton University a promising judoka, and before judo she had been a gymnast, twice being crowned national acrobatic gymnastics champion.
Then, in her final year of studying Sport Product Design, Gordon-Brown took up Olympic weightlifting and hasn’t looked back since.
At her debut British University Championships, the Harefield native won her weight category, posting the best women’s total of the day before earning the national senior title in 2021.
In her international debut late last year, Gordon-Brown finished 12th in the women’s 59kg category at the World Championships, improving four places in the clean and jerk section following a tricky snatch component.
She combines her training with working as a coach across her three sports, with Gordon-Brown as likely to be bending her body as bending the bar.
