With the youngest competitor for Team England just 14, the future is ready to become the present at Glasgow 2026.

While some have already claimed world medals and have an Olympics under their belts, others are taking the first step in their senior career.

Meet five Team England youngsters to look out for at the Commonwealth Games

Ursula Carroll - Para swimming

As July nears its end, most 14-year-olds have six weeks of summer relaxation to look forward to.

But para swimmer Carroll is preparing for a very different school break than her classmates.

The 14-year-old holds the title of youngest Team England athlete at Glasgow 2026.

She will make her Commonwealth Games debut at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in the women’s S13 100m freestyle on 24 July.


It is a call-up Carroll earned with an eye-catching performance at the Swim England Winter Nationals in December 2025, when she set a new European record in the S13 200m individual medley.

Though the youngster is entering new territory in her swimming career, she will be joined by a familiar face in the Tollcross pool - older sister Astrid, who competes for Team Scotland.

Abi Martin - Gymnastics

At just 18 years old, Martin is already a decorated gymnast.

The teenager won team silver with Britain at the 2024 European Championships, represented Team GB at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and followed that up with individual floor exercise bronze at the 2025 World Championships.

Martin will make her Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow’s International Arena on 25 July.

And she comes into the Games high on confidence, having won three gold medals at the 2026 English Championships - on the floor, vault, and the coveted all-around competition.

Glasgow 2026 is a brilliant opportunity for the Team England gymnast to continue showcasing her skills on the senior international stage.


Alex Yolshin-Cash - Gymnastics

Yolshin-Cash is another one of the most exciting up-and-coming gymnastics prospects.

The 20-year-old has already proved his worth at the highest level, having placed fifth in the 2025 World Championships pommel horse final.

He will hope to back that up at his inaugural Commonwealth Games, with his first run-out coming on 24 July in the men’s team final and individual qualification.

A shoulder injury ruled Yolshin-Cash out of last year’s British Championships, before he fell on a pommel horse dismount in training and chipped two front teeth.

But the young gymnast showed admirable resilience to recover in time for the Jakarta World Championships, and he is fully fit and raring to go in Glasgow.

Jayda Pechová - Netball

While Pechová is the youngest member of the Team England netball squad, she is already one of the most well-known.

And for good reason - 21-year-old Pechová enjoyed a standout Netball Super League season for Nottingham Forest, collecting all available individual awards.

The Player of the Year, Fans’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year finished in the top three for interceptions, gains and deflections in the 2026 NSL season.

Her outstanding performance was made all the more impressive by the fact that she had been not been selected for the England Roses senior programme prior to the 2025-26 international season.

Now back in the England set-up, Pechová will hope to continue her fine form in Glasgow, as Team England aim to bounce back from their fourth-placed finish at Birmingham 2022.

Anna Stembridge’s side get their Glasgow 2026 campaign underway against Northern Ireland on 25 July.


Charlie Ayre - Judo

Ayre is the youngest of a decorated judo team, which includes defending champions Emma Reid and Jamal Petgrave.

But the 20-year-old judoka, who will compete in the -60kg category, comes into Glasgow 2026 at just the right time.

The Commonwealth Games debutant recently claimed his first IJF World Tour medal - silver at the Qingdao Grand Prix - and gained crucial experience at the European Championships in April.


He has previously seen significant junior success, including gold at the Birmingham Junior Cup in 2025.

Ayre will aim to challenge for another medal - albeit at the senior level - in Glasgow, stepping onto the SEC Centre mat on 31 July.
