Siobhan-Marie O’Connor stormed to victory in the women’s 200m individual medley final, adding to Team England’s impressive medal tally in the pool so far this Games and retaining her title.
Taking a stunning time of 2:09:80, O’Connor beat Sarah Darcel of Canada, by nearly two seconds.
Fellow England teammate Aimee Willmott, who won the women’s 400m Individual Medley on day two, placed fourth, just missing out on a podium position behind the two Canadian competitors. England’s Abbie Wood finished seventh.
Today’s gold marks her third medal of the 2018 Games, having medalled in every final she has competed in. Siobhan also won bronze medals in Thursday’s 4x100 women’s relay and yesterday’s 4x200.
