There are several Team England stars who topped the podium in Birmingham four years ago who are looking to repeat the feat north of the border.

Here are five of those bidding to go back-to-back...

Adam Ramsay-Peaty - Swimming

Three-time Olympic champion Ramsay-Peaty headlines the Team England swimming squad at Glasgow 2026. 

Ramsay-Peaty is a generational talent whose impact stretches far beyond the pool.

The 32-year-old made his Commonwealth debut at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in 2014.

Then 19, he stunned the world to beat London 2012 champion Cameron van der Burgh over his favoured 100m breaststroke distance.

And that was just the start, as Ramsay-Peaty went on to dominate the sport.

Four Commonwealth golds, eight world titles, and 16 European Championship wins later, he returns to Tollcross to defend his Commonwealth title.

At Birmingham 2022, it was the 50m breaststroke in which Ramsay-Peaty won his gold medal, and he will also strive for 100m success in Glasgow.

Emily Campbell - Weightlifting

Opening Ceremony flagbearer Campbell was one of the faces of Birmingham 2022.

One of the most successful English weightlifters of all time, Campbell won gold in the +87kg category in the West Midlands, lifting a Commonwealth Games record total of 286kg.

She is a six-time European champion, a two-time Olympic medallist, and a passionate advocate for inclusion in sport.

The 32-year-old will be a strong favourite in the +86kg category in Glasgow, when she steps onto the SEC Armadillo platform on 30 July.

Nick Brett - Bowls

The Men’s Triples final was one of the most dramatic moments of the Birmingham 2022 Games, as England withstood an Australian comeback to clinch a 14-12 victory. 

Having been 12-1 up by the ninth end, Australia fought back to level the match, before Nick Brett, Louis Ridout, and Jamie Chestney dug deep to triumph in the final two ends.

Of the winning trio, only Brett is back to defend his Glasgow gold.

While the streamlined Games will see no Men’s Triples event contested, he will hope to transfer his success to the Singles and Pairs events.

Joined by Birmingham pairs silver medallist Jamie Walker and four-time Commonwealth medallist Sam Tolchard, Brett looks well-placed to return to the top of the podium.

Emma Reid - Judo

Reid won judo gold at Birmingham 2022 by beating defending champion Natalie Powell in an exciting final.

In Glasgow, Reid herself will be the one to beat in the -78kg category.

The judoka heads into the Games in good form, having won European silver in April.

Reid, 31, can also draw upon Olympic experience in Glasgow, after she made her debut at Paris 2024.

And, with a Glaswegian father, the Team England judoka is sure to enjoy plenty of vocal support at the SEC Centre on 2 August.

Alice Tai - Para swimming

As a two-time Commonwealth champion, Tai has the chance to make it three in a row in Glasgow.

The Team England para swimmer won gold in the S9 100m backstroke in both 2018 and 2022.

And Tai’s success extends well beyond the Commonwealth Games.

Her long list of accomplishments includes three Paralympic gold medals, eight World Championship wins, six European titles, and an incredible six world records to date.

At Glasgow 2026, the 27-year-old will aim to add another medal to her impressive haul when she glides through the Tollcross pool on 26 July.
