Rhys Smith saved his first England goal for when it mattered, as he scored the first of Team England's six to seal bronze against South Africa at Birmingham 2022.

It was the latest part of Smith's international career that has caught the eye both on and off the pitch since making his debut against Belgium in 2018.

Smith's Hockey Inner City initiative seeks to bring the sport to children who usually would not have the opportunity to pick up a stick and increase the diversity of hockey as a sport.

A charismatic and funny individual, Rhys also produced his own #SmithSkillzSkool video series where he challenged people to replicate a range of trick shots he thought up himself.
