A home Commonwealth Games will conclude a whirlwind 12 months for Matty Lee, who is now a household name well beyond the world of diving.

In late July last year Lee became one of the stars of Tokyo 2020 when, along with partner Tom Daley, he won gold in the men’s synchronised platform event.

By the end of the year his name was capitulated into the public consciousness after appearing on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, with the 24-year-old finishing in a respectable fifth place.

Earlier this year Lee even received Royal recognition after he was awarded an MBE for services to diving, later admitting he only got round to reading the email informing him weeks after, as it was sent during his time in the castle.

This year he will try and add Commonwealth gold to a growing list of accolades.

Diving
Team England made a splash in diving with their most successful ever Commonwealth Games in the sport seeing them win six golds and 16 medals in total.
