If Ellie Boatman had let judgemental comments from her peers win, she wouldn’t be making her Commonwealth Games debut for Team England.

The 25-year-old winger took up the game aged four but stopped playing between the ages of 16 and 19 due to peer pressure, later speaking out against bullying and her own issues with body image.

Boatman only made a return to the sport while studying at the University of Southampton, admitting she had to be convinced to play a game with the university team.

Since then, she has established herself for Wasps in the Premier15s, being named in the 2021-22 team of the year, before making her England Sevens debut earlier this year.
