In the build up to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Team England has renewed its official partnership with Kukri to supply competition and delegation sportswear to the whole of Team England’s teams for the next two years.

The partnership has been announced with exactly two years to go until the start of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, where Team England will be hoping to achieve similar success to Glasgow 2014.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was the most successful ever for Team England, with a total of 174 medals driving England to the top of the medal table for the first time in 28 years.
The partnership sees Kukri continue to supply sportswear to elite athletes across 18 different sports following on from the successful 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and 2015 Youth Commonwealth Games in Samoa.

As part of the agreement, Kukri will supply product to over 600 England athletes and coaches competing in the Gold Coast 2018 Games, as well as the next generation of English athletes competing at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.

Paul Blanchard, Chief Executive of Commonwealth Games England said:

“Topping the kind of performance that Team England delivered in Glasgow is a tough challenge and CGE is determined to try and build on this success and continue to grow as a leading English sporting organisation. We are confident that having the support of Kukri, and their fantastic kit, will enable us to achieve great success in 2018.

“We are fully focused on sending the best prepared – and best kitted out – team to the Gold Coast. Gold Coast 2018 will also see the England vs. Australia rivalry renewed as we prepare to take on the Aussies in their own back-yard. We want to look our best.”

Andrew Ronnie, Group Executive Chairman, Kukri said:

“It is an honour to be working again with a team as prestigious as Commonwealth Games England. Athletes take great pride in representing their country, and we are delighted to be making a range of sportswear which allows them to perform to their ultimate best. Our continued partnership with Team England clearly demonstrates our position as the market leader in bespoke sportswear.”

The Gold Coast Games in 2018 will be a chance for Team England to follow on from the challenge of finishing top of the medal charts at Glasgow 2014 but is fully focused on ensuring that it sends the best prepared team to the Gold Coast. The Games will also see the England vs. Australia rivalry be prominent as England hope to take on Australia in their own back-yard, across 18 different sports.
