Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix's eye-catching rise on to the senior international stage continues with her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 and now she is eyeing up the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Spendolini-Sirieix earned her place as the youngest member of the Team GB diving team after a string of eye-catching performances over the past two years, including two medals at the 2021 European Championships.

The Crystal Palace Diving Club athlete claimed Women's 10m Platform bronze with a composed list of dives, as well as securing bronze with Noah Williams in the Mixed 10m Synchro. She also narrowly missed out on the podium at the FINA Diving World Cup earlier in the year at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

The teenager, who is still at school, was part of Team England's Bring It Home campaign launch in 2021. At the event, she was asked what representing Team England would mean to her:

"This is my country, to represent England, in England would be a dream come true!"

Despite the diving season of 2020 being disrupted by the global COVID pandemic, Spendolini-Sirieix - who trains under coach Lin Chen - enjoyed a memorable year, winning her first senior title with Women's 10m Platform gold at the British Championships, before following that up with the same title at the FINA Grand Prix event in Rostock, Germany.

Now in 2022 all attention is on potentially competing at a home Commonwealth Games.

"To compete in front of a home crowd, is an amazing feeling because you have so much love. And my family can come and watch, which is a highlight."

"And you know, I've never been to Birmingham!

"But I have heard some pretty good things and I'm very excited."

Two years ago Andrea won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, a prize whose previous winners includes Tom Daley. She also has a rather well known father, Fred Sirieix, the charming French maître d'hôtel from First Dates.

And Andrea has a close connection to her family. When asked who she wants to Bring It Home for, Andrea replied:

"I want to Bring It Home for my brother, he's my inspiration."

We hope to see Andrea using that family inspiration this summer!
