Sophie Hamilton's first major Games, and medal, came at home after a globetrotting start to her hockey career. 

Hamilton was part of the women's hockey squad that claimed gold for the first-time at the Commonwealth Games, with victory over Australia at Birmingham 2022.

Along with twin sister Olivia, Hamilton started her career in Somerset, playing for the University of Bath before crossing the Atlantic to play college hockey for UCONN Huskies. 

She has since returned and joined Surbiton, making her senior international debut for Great Britain in 2020 with her England debut coming against Argentina in 2022. 

At age group level, Hamilton was part of the team that won EuroHockey Youth bronze in 2018.
