Shelley Ludford heads to Glasgow 2026 for her maiden Commonwealth Games debut as a rising star.
Ludford made her European Championships debut in 2026, where she reached the -78kg last 16 before defeat to Olympic champion Alice Bellandi.
It continued her impressive return to action following two ACL reconstructions that kept her out of qualification for Birmingham 2022, with Ludford also picking up gold at the Ljubljana European Open.
The Basingstoke native won world junior bronze in 2018 before injury stymied her progress.
Away from the mat, she has a degree in midwifery from the University of Wolverhampton.
Judo
The three-day Judo bonanza kicked off with Team England success in the form of a gold medal for Ashley McKenzie who came out on top in an all-English final against Sam Hall in the 60kg competition.
