Sam Tolchard comes from one great sporting family.
He and sister Sophie are two of the stars of the bowls circuit, having won six Commonwealth medals between them.
His uncle Jeffery played football for Torquay United and Exeter City and played first-class cricket for Leicestershire.
Another uncle, Roger, played Test cricket for England while Sam's father, Raymond, competed at Wimbledon as a junior tennis player.
He also represented Devon at cricket and bowls and umpired 40 first-class cricket matches between 1988 and 1992
Sam Tolchard turned his bronze medals of 2014 and 2018 into silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The Torquay-born bowler claimed the silver in the men's pairs while picking up another bronze in the fours.
He has established himself as one of the best in England, having won seven gold medals at the English Nationals as well as gold in the pairs at the British Isles Championships in 2017.
Tolchard caps an outstanding CV with a win in New Zealand 2022 at the 2022 World Single Champions of Champions.
