Sam Tolchard comes from one a great sporting family.
He and sister Sophie are two of the stars of the bowls circuit, having won three Commonwealth medals between them.
His uncle Jeffery played football for Torquay United and Exeter City and played first-class cricket for Leicestershire.
Another uncle, Roger, played Test cricket for England while Sam's father, Raymond, competed at Wimbledon as a junior tennis player.
He also represented Devon at cricket and bowls and umpired 40 first-class cricket matches between 1988 and 1992.
This February, the Tolchard family will represent their country once again as Sam looks to add to his two bronze medals while competing at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
He has established himself as one of the best in England, having won seven gold medals at the English Nationals as well as gold in the pairs at the British Isles Championships in 2017.
His Commonwealth bronzes from 2014 and 2018 in Glasgow and Gold Coast, respectively, cap an outstanding CV.
