After missing out on Gold Coast 2018 through injury, making it to Birmingham 2022 was particularly sweet for Sabbie Heesh - never mind going on to win gold.

Heesh was part of the history-making women's hockey team that beat Australia 2-1 en route to a first ever Commonwealth gold in the sport.

It was the light at the end of a long tunnel for Heesh, who suffered a significant knee injury that caused her to miss out on the 2018 Games.

She made her international debut in 2015, she was part of the England team that won European gold on home soil in the same year.

Surbiton’s goalkeeper loves live music, tending to her plants and always puts her goalkeeping kit on in exactly the same order.

The Nottingham-born Loughborough graduate also has two post-graduate diplomas in digital marketing.

It was ecstasy for the women’s team who took home the title for the first time in history.
