Rhianna Parris-Smith was a promising athlete as a junior but has not looked back since making the switch to two wheels.
Recurring knee injuries helped bring about her change of sporting path and she tried out cycling at an Oaklands College open day, when she described herself as ‘the worst one there’.
But her potential was identified and after entering the 'From Home 2 The Games' talent transfer scheme in October 2021, she was called up to the Great Britain Cycling Team the following year.
Parris-Smith, who cites teammate Kadeena Cox as inspiration, won team sprint silver at the 2025 World Championships and has two European silvers to her name. She will make her Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow.
The University of Derby graduate’s nickname is Rocky –her initials, RPS, led to people calling her ‘rock, paper, scissors’, which has since been shortened.
