Max Litchfield returns to the Commonwealth stage for the first time in 12 years, back in the city where he made his international debut.

Litchfield, the son of former professional footballer Peter, has been a mainstay of the British swimming scene for more than a decade and is the British record holder over 400m individual medley.

Litchfield won a silver medal in the event at the 2024 World Championships, while he has been to three Olympics, finishing fourth in the 400m IM on each occasion.

He has missed the last two Commonwealth Games, ruled out through injury in 2018 before withdrawing from Birmingham for personal reasons.

His younger brother Joe is also a competitive swimmer, who won two silver medals at the 20222 Commonwealth Games

Swimming and Para-Swimming
Tom Dean aka “The SubmaDean” followed up his double Olympic triumph at Tokyo 2020 by making history in Birmingham, becoming the first Home Nations athlete to win seven medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
