Max Burgin comes into his first Commonwealth Games with high hopes and the promise of plenty more to come.
He showed his promise when he won the 800m at the 2018 European U18 Championships in Gyor, Hungary, and was still only 20 years old when he won his first British title in 2022.
While the Games of Birmingham 2022 came too soon for Burgin, his performances led to him representing Great Britain at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris where he became the first British man to reach an 800m final since London 2012 and finished eighth.
His first World Championships came at Budapest 2023, but it was at Tokyo 2025 that he really impressed as he ran a personal best of 1:42.29 in a sixth-place finish in the final.
The current season has brought a landmark first victory in the Diamond League as he was first across the line in the meeting at Rabat in May.
