After a breakout 2021, Josie Nelson represented her country on home soil at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The 21-year-old finished 34th in the Women's Road Race in her maiden games, less than an hour away from her hometown of Burton upon Trent.

Prior to that, she went from strength to strength during the cyclocross season, winning the third round of the HSBC UK Cyclo-Cross National Trophy in Falkirk.

She followed that up with a great run of performances in Belgium and the Netherlands, securing some strong results, including 10th place at the Under-23 European Championships in Col du Vam and seventh place in Leuven.

Nelson is the sister of UCI Track Cycling World Championship gold medal winner Emily Nelson and will be hoping to follow in her footsteps in years to come.
