Dr Jonathan Chin swapped the hospital for the platform at Glasgow 2026.
The weightlifter works as a fully qualified doctor for the NHS alongside his weightlifting career, taking a first major medal at the 2023 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in India.
Chin first got involved in weightlifting in 2016 after he started attending a gym to rehab a hamstring injury he sustained while doing athletics and in his second-ever competition, the 2018 British Championships, he won his first podium spot.
A three-time British champion and seven-time British record holder, Chin documents his life as a doctor and elite athlete on his social media.
Having reached his maiden Commonwealth Games whilst also working, Chin finished fourth in Glasgow.
