James Willstrop is one of England’s greatest squash players and is known as ‘The Marksman’ after his accurate shot placement.

James represented Team England for the fifth time on the Gold Coast and won gold in the men's squash singles and bronze in the men's doubles.

His Team England debut was at the first Commonwealth Youth Games in Edinburgh in 2000. He then went on to win silver at Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010 and then silver and bronze at Glasgow 2014.

The stand-out story from the glass courts at the University of Birmingham was undoubtedly that of Gina Kennedy who, on her Games debut, became the first English woman to win the Women’s Singles title.
