Unfinished business pushed James Hollis out of retirement for a chance to win a Commonwealth  Games medal at Birmingham 2022.

And a brilliant bronze in the men's S10 100m butterfly saw the swimmer's dreams come true on home soil.

Having competed at London 2012 and soared to the top of the world rankings in 2017, Hollis hung up his cap and goggles at the end of 2018.

After finishing his masters at Loughborough University, Hollis became a performance lifestyle analyst and even attended Tokyo 2020 as a staff member.

James has broken all four limbs - several times. Returning to the pool helped him manage pain associated with his condition but also completed his dream of standing on the podium in Birmingham.

Swimming and Para-Swimming
Tom Dean aka “The SubmaDean” followed up his double Olympic triumph at Tokyo 2020 by making history in Birmingham, becoming the first Home Nations athlete to win seven medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
