After dabbling in rugby and basketball, James Arnott settled on athletics in 2012 and has not looked back.

The 25-year-old is in Team England colours for the second time this summer and will hope to go one better than he did on the Gold Coast, where he won T47 100m silver.

Arnott was born with Erb’s palsy, a condition that causes restricted movement in his left shoulder, and wanted to follow in the footsteps of his brother Jack and play rugby for Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.

But London 2012 inspired the Devon star and he now hopes to add a second Commonwealth Games medal to his collection.

In front of a 30,000 strong crowd at the newly refurbished Alexander Stadium, Team England picked up a host of medals at Birmingham 2022.
