Jade Atkin had spent much of her sporting career with her sister Adele by her side but at Birmingham 2022 she went it alone as part of Team England’s first wheelchair basketball squad, claiming a bronze medal.

Atkin, alongside Amy Conroy, Joy Haizelden and Charlotte Moore, powered Team England to a place on the podium as the sport made its Games debut.

Atkin's sister first introduced the 21-year-old to the sport and the duo were selected for their first GB Junior Women’s training squad at the same time.

Since then, Atkin has claimed a gold medal for Great Britain at the 2018 U24 European Championships before securing a silver at the senior tournament last year.

An exciting, action-packed, smaller format of the 5x5 game, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball made history in Birmingham when the sport made its Commonwealth Games debut.
