Weightlifter Jack Oliver is coming full circle in 2022.

The 31-year-old burst onto the scene in 2011 by winning bronze at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships, the competition that is held in non-Commonwealth Games years.

The Sidcup-born lifter finished 10th at London 2012, the home Olympic Games, the best finish of any British weightlifter.

Oliver is back competing on home soil this year in the Commonwealth Games where he will hope to upgrade his men’s 77kg silver to gold.

On the Gold Coast four years ago, Oliver topped the leaderboard after the snatch round before settling for second step on the podium.

Oliver has halved his standings at the Commonwealth Games each time he has competed, finishing eighth in 2010 before just missing out on a medal as he came fourth at Glasgow 2014.

If the trend is to continue, Oliver will have a gold medal around his neck this summer.
