Aged just 13 years and 148 days, Iona Winnifrith claimed a silver medal in the SB7 100m breaststroke at the Paris Paralympics in 2024 as the youngest member of Paralympics GB.

Now a comparatively stately 15 years old ahead of her maiden Commonwealth Games, she is bidding for a famous gold after claiming two medals at the World Championships in 2025.

Winnifrith's first international championships resulted in European titles in the SB7 100m breaststroke and SM7 200m individual medley, in addition to a S7 50m Butterfly bronze, in Madeira in 2024.

Winnifrith has two dogs, loves to goon walks and is a member of the local youth theatre, performing in plays and school productions.

Swimming and Para-Swimming
Tom Dean aka “The SubmaDean” followed up his double Olympic triumph at Tokyo 2020 by making history in Birmingham, becoming the first Home Nations athlete to win seven medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
