Gordon Shaw represented South Africa at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, finishing fifth and becoming Commonwealth Youth champion that same year.

He has now switched allegiance to Team England and will represent the home team at Birmingham 2022.

Shaw stormed onto the British scene at the 2022 National Championships at 109+kg, breaking national records across the board, hitting a 162kg snatch and 189kg clean and jerk.
