Georgina Schwiening will compete in the Commonwealth Games marathon in Birmingham but her early success came partly on two wheels.
She won silver at the World Junior Duathlon Championships in 2012 and won gold a year later.
Schwiening, who attended the University of Bath for sport and exercise science, stepped on her first senior podium in 2018 after finishing third at the ITU Multisport World Championships in Denmark.
Her focus then switched solely to road running as she won the Worthing Half Marathon and narrowly missed out on the top 10 among the women at the London Marathon, her 2:54:30 landing her in 11th.
She’ll hope to carry her excellent 2022 momentum all the way to Birmingham after taking third place at the Manchester Marathon in 2:31:35.
