The last two years have been a whirlwind for Fiona Crackles, culminating in a gold medal for Team England for the Commonwealth Games.

Crackles, a teak-tough defender, made her international debut in late 2020 and her major bow shortly after at the 2021 European Championships.

Reared on a farm in Cumbria and inspired by Kate Richardson-Walsh, the Durham graduate was catapulted into the Olympic squad and brought back bronze from Tokyo.

Closer to home in Birmingham, Crackles was part of the women's hockey squad that won Team England's first-ever gold in the event by defeating Australia in the final.

Hockey
It was ecstasy for the women’s team who took home the title for the first time in history.
