Emily Borthwick soared to a Commonwealth Games final on debut in Birmingham.

The Wigan born high jump star jumped a height of 1.81m to reach the final, finishing 11th overall in the competition.

Borthwick claimed her first senior medal in the women’s high jump at the 2021 British Championship. 

That performance punched her ticket to a debut Olympic Games where she finished 16th with a jump of 1.93. 

The Wigan Harrier is seen as a rising star in English athletics and made a splash earlier this year with a new personal best leap of 1.95m, a top five jump in the world at the time.
