Six-time world and Paralympic champion, 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist and eight-time winner of the London Marathon, David Weir is the ultimate competitor.
So much so that the wheelchair racer was once quoted as saying: “I like to get beaten sometimes as it gives you the drive to train harder.”
A naturally gifted wheelchair racer, Weir’s crowning glory came at London 2012 when he won an incredible four gold medal races.
Together with his coach of 20 years Jenny Archer, Weir set up the Weir Archer Academy and the track in Kingston where he grew up racing and now trains has been renamed the Weir Archer Athletics and Fitness Centre in their honour.
