Daniel Powell capped off a solid start to his judo career with Commonwealth gold in 2022.

The Walsall star claimed 73kg gold in front of a passionate home crowd inside the Coventry Arena, his first senior medal at a major championships.

Powell had previously won a silver medal at the Sarajevo European Open four years after making the step up from junior competition. 

He previously enjoyed an excellent junior career, winning six medals in European Junior Cup between 2015 and 2017.
