Damar Thomas is already used to competing in front of a British crowd and is ready to go again at his debut Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The super-heavyweight competed at the World Championships in Liverpool in 2025, reaching the quarter-finals in the +90kg division.
In 2022, he started to have success on the junior stage, becoming the 92kg champion at the European Youth Boxing Championships in Sofia.
A few months later, he became the silver medallist in the same weight category at the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships.
He was crowned English national champion in 2023 before making his senior Championships debut in Liverpool.
Thomas’ progress stalled after that as he required a serious operation on his hand, in which a bone was taken from his hip.
His overall amateur record stands at 31 wins and five losses, and he won 12 fights in a row to start his amateur career.
Training out of Powerday Hooks, Thomas has been supported by Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and Olympic champion James Degale.
