Lottie McGuinness wants to follow in the footsteps of her sporting idol Ellie Simmonds and inspire the next generation.

McGuinness will make her Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow 2026, where she will compete in para powerlifting.

The Yorkshirewoman made the switch from swimming just before the Covid-19 pandemic and converted her barn into a makeshift gym in order to continue training through lockdown.

McGuinness attended Birmingham 2022 as a spectator as part of the Team England Futures programme and two years later made her Paralympic debut in Paris.

McGuinness has a degree in sport and exercise science from Leeds Trinity University and formerly worked in the NHS.
