Para guide Charlie Harding has become one half of a triathlon-winning pair in his race to challenge himself and others.

The teenager began competing in local triathlons in his hometown of Penrith at age seven, inspired by watching his mum race.

He went on to become part of the North West Triathlon Academy and has competed in the British Super Series.

Harding first guided visually impaired athlete Oscar Kelly in 2019, proving the strength of their teamwork with a silver medal, before helping the pair to victory in the 2019 British Paratriathlon super sprint champs.

At the 2021 World Triathlon Championships in Abu Dhabi, the pair came sixth and Harding and Kelly will now make their Commonwealth Games debuts alongside each other at Birmingham 2022.

Harding has spoken of his love for being a guide, stating that the technical aspects of the job create a new kind of test for him, one which he relishes.
