Charlie Dobson was a promising short sprinter in his youth but has found greater success running one lap of the track.
A world U20 200m silver medallist in 2018, Dobson emerged from the Covid pandemic a 400m runner, setting the joint-fastest time of the year, alongside Matthew Hudson-Smith.
Injury delayed his rise, and saw him miss a debut major Games at Tokyo 2020, while he continued to impress over half a lap of the track, even as many tipped him for big things in the 400m.
Those predictions came true in 2022 as Dobson won European silver in the 4x400m relay, going on to claim world and Olympic bronze in the same event across the next two years.
2024 also saw him win a first individual senior medal, claiming silver at the European Championships in Rome.
He claimed the Diamond League title in 2024, before a storming run at the 2025 London Athletics Meet earned him victory on home soil and a new PB.
He is now targeting a debut Commonwealth Games at Glasgow 2026.
