Chantelle Reid is making her Commonwealth Games debut after completing a remarkable journey back to the top of amateur boxing.
She won a gold medal at the 2014 World Junior Championships and bronze at the World Youth Championships a year later, but a severe neck injury forced her away from the sport for six years.
After returning to the ring in early 2023, Reid qualified to represent Team GB in the women’s 75kg at the 2024 Olympics in Paris but after losing in the first round considered walking away from boxing for a second time.
A visit to her former primary school inspired her to continue, however, and her decision has been more than vindicated since.
Reid won 70kg bronze at the 2025 World Championships in Liverpool and continued to build momentum by coming away from the Strandja Cup earlier this year with a gold medal.
