Brock Whiston shot into the public consciousness at the Paris Paralympics and has used that platform ever since.
The Romford swimmer was already a four-time world champion when she made her Paralympic debut in 2024, winning gold at the SM8 200m individual medley as well as SB8 100m breaststroke silver.
She followed that up by taking the world title over 200m medley in Singapore in 2025, six years after first triumphing in the event and beating para-swimming legend Jessica Long in the process.
But away from the pool, teaching assistant Whiston has been an advocate for equal access to school sport for disabled children.
Working with children with special needs, Whiston was a leading voice in the Equal Play campaign which called on the government to ensure "every child has the same access to PE at school, rather than leaving them sidelined".
