The Commonwealth Games has been a happy hunting ground for Ben Proud.

Raised in Malaysia, Proud moved to Plymouth from Kuala Lumpur on a swimming scholarship in 2011 and three years later was making his mark in Glasgow.

Proud won 50m freestyle and butterfly gold medals as well as a 4x100m freestyle silver, and won a further gold and two silvers at the Gold Coast games four years later.

He has also excelled elsewhere, winning a range of European and World level medals throughout his career - including a short course world title in the 50m freestyle towards the end of 2021.

One of the most experienced athletes in Team England, he’ll hope to use that experience to his advantage when action in the pool begins.

He set a new Games record in Australia for the 50m freestyle, finishing in a time of 21.30.

Tom Dean aka “The SubmaDean” followed up his double Olympic triumph at Tokyo 2020 by making history in Birmingham, becoming the first Home Nations athlete to win seven medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
