‘Track goddess and academic badass’ Amy Hunt is set to make her Team England debut at Glasgow 2026.
The Grantham native uttered those immortal lines after winning world silver in the women’s 200m in 2025, a coming of age for the young sprinting star.
She rose to prominence in 2019, claiming the world under-18 record for the 200m in just her fifth competitive outdoor race over the distance.
It was not all smooth-sailing though, as Hunt made the decision to juggle her athletics pursuit with a degree in English at Cambridge University.
Matters were further complicated by Covid and rupturing a tendon that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation.
But when she took her place in the senior ranks she soon showed she belonged, claiming European gold in the 4x100m relay in 2024.
She then helped Great Britain to Olympic silver in the same event before her first individual major medal game in Tokyo in 2025.
Hunt has already enjoyed success in 2026, breaking 11 seconds for the first time over 100 metres, becoming just the fourth British woman to do so.
