The old adage of ‘if you can’t see it, you can’t be it’ definitely applies to Amy Conroy.

The 29-year-old from Norwich had attended a taster session for wheelchair basketball but it was only later when she saw the sport being played professionally that she committed to the sport.

Conroy returned to the city of her international debut at Birmingham 2022 emerging with a bronze medal.

It meant that in more ways than one she had come a long way since earning sixth place at the World Wheelchair Basketball Championships that were held in Birmingham in 2010.

Since then, silverware has flowed with silvers at the European and World Championships, the latter marking the first time a women’s GB squad had reached the gold medal final at the Worlds.

An exciting, action-packed, smaller format of the 5x5 game, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball made history in Birmingham when the sport made its Commonwealth Games debut.
