Just over a decade ago, Ali Smith was a talented young showjumper competing in the European Viewing Trials.
Now, the qualified accountant is one of the world’s best on the track and will be aiming for a first Commonwealth Games medal in Birmingham this summer.
After giving up eventing in 2016 following a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, Smith was encouraged to take to the track to boost her mobility - having raced at a high standard at school as a teenager.
European and Paralympic medals have since followed, and she will now make her Team England bow in Birmingham.
