Middle distance runner Alex Botterill is making his first Commonwealth Games appearance in a season where he has run quicker than ever before.

Competing in the 800m, he heads to Glasgow having run a personal best of 1:44.16 over that distance in June 2026.

Coached by three-time Commonwealth champion Steve Cram, Botterill is a Commonwealth Youth Games gold medallist, having stood top of the podium after winning the 800m at Nassau, Bahamas, in 2017.

He finished third in the UK Championships over the last two years while he is also a prolific cross country runner.
