Beth Tweddle, Louis Smith and Daniel Purvis take Gold, Silver and Bronze at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championship in Rotterdam.

42nd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, Rotterdam, 16-24 October.

Asymetric Bars – Beth Tweddle Gold (15.733)

Beth Tweddle, watched as both Chinese competitors fell early on in the Asymmetric Bars Final leaving Beth to hold her nerve and let her difficult routine see her through to win back the World title she previously won in 2006.

Beth Tweddle: “It means everything to me to regain the Bars title. I have worked so hard day in day out in the gym for this so I'm very proud. I wasn’t watching the previous routines but from the noise of the crowd I could tell the 2 Chinese girls ahead of me had fallen and so I tried to remain calm, but knew at that point that if I went clean I had a great chance of winning the title.”

Pommel Horse – Louis Smith Silver (15.733)

Louis Smith was determined to fight back after a disappointment at last years World Championship and he did so in style, nailing his Pommel routine to take the Silver medal, matching his result at the European Championships earlier in the year.

Louis Smith: “This medal really rounds of a fantastic competition for Britain. For me personally, I've come here and hit every routine clean, having put a lot of pressure on myself after falling last year and I’m very proud that I made no mistakes and proved myself once again.”

Floor – Dan Purvis Bronze (15.366)

Dan Purvis also matched his European medal, this time with the Floor Bronze with a supremely controlled routine, belaying any pre-event nerves to see him through to his first World Championship medal.

Dan Purvis: “It’s really a dream come true to win a World medal. I was watching the scores come in and knew it would be tough to be up there but I managed to hold my nerve. It been an amazing year for me but most of all its been great year for Great Britain.”

Recent Double Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Imogen Cairns also competed for GBR finishing 8th in a high standard Vault Final.

Imogen Cairns: “ The last few weeks have been a really amazing experience for me, the Commonwealths were brilliant and to and then to come here and help the Team to 5th and then make Final is fantastic. I knew coming into the Final that it would be difficult for me to have any impact and it now gives me even more motivation to add more difficulty and keep improving my Vaults for the future.”
