Glasgow 2014 mixed doubles badminton champion Gabby Adcock has her eyes on the record books after securing her eighth English National Championship title alongside husband Chris on Sunday.
The world number six pairing faced fellow off-court partners Lauren Smith and Gary Fox in the final in Crawley.
Gabby has already won five women’s doubles titles – the last one with Smith – but added a third mixed victory to her name as she and Chris wrapped up a 21-10, 21-13 victory in just 30 minutes.
Six-time Commonwealth Games medallist Anthony Clark currently holds the record for the most English National Championship titles won with 12.
But Adcock, who added mixed doubles gold and team silver to her own Games collection last summer, is determined to one day surpass her former England teammate.
“I’m pleased to get that eighth title and playing one event has been a luxury with our training block,” she said.
“I want to go for the record of national titles. Next year could be difficult with the Olympics in mind but I hope to get ten in the bag at some point.”
The Adcocks were not the only Team England athletes celebrating with fellow team silver medallists Heather Olver and Smith taking the women’s doubles title after a 21-11, 21-11 win over Jennifer Moore and Viki Williams.
While Chris Langridge, winner of two silvers and a bronze in Glasgow, teamed up with Marcus Ellis to to beat Matthew Nottingham and Harley Towler 21-17, 19-21, 21-15 in the men’s doubles.
