Frankie Carter-Kelly has been appointed as the Interim Managing Director of Commonwealth Games England and will take up the position formally on 1st November 2026. This follows the announcement last week regarding the departure of Mark Osikoya as the CEO of CGE on 31st October.

Frankie is currently Commonwealth Games England's Director of Sport and has played key leadership roles throughout her time in the team across several cycles, most recently Glasgow 2026, and as Deputy Chef de Mission in Birmingham 2022. Frankie has led teams internationally at the Commonwealth Youth Games, for Great Britain at the World University Games and was seconded as Deputy Chef de Mission for Team GB for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In addition, Frankie works closely with Commonwealth Sport as the European representative on their Sport Committee.

This new leadership role is on an interim basis until a decision is made on the permanent leadership structure, that will deliver for Team England athletes and sports for the 2027-2031 Centenary Commonwealth cycle.

Commenting on her appointment Carter-Kelly said:

“The Commonwealth Games is uniquely special, and I am honoured to move into the role of interim Managing Director to lead the organisation through this period of transition. I am looking forward to working with the team, sports, and our wider partners as we look to build on the success of Glasgow 2026 and lay the early foundations for what is sure to be a fantastic 2030 cycle - starting with preparing the next generation of Team England athletes at the Youth Games in Malta next summer.”

An announcement confirming the new permanent structure for the organisation, will be made before the end of the year.
