With less than two months until the start of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, this week saw four English triathletes chosen to represent Team GB this summer.
The sport’s most famous brothers Ali and Jonny Brownlee have, as expected, secured their place on Rio and will be joined by fellow English triathletes Vicky Holland and Gordon Benson.
Olympic and double Commonwealth champion Ali Brownlee and his younger brother Jonny who won Olympic bronze at London 2014 and mixed team relay gold at Glasgow 2014 will be amongst the favourites in Rio as they look to put in further strong performances.
Another one of the triathletes that mixed team relay gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games is Vicky Holland who booked her place on the plane to Rio after another great year.
They will be joined in the men’s race by 22-year-old Gordon Benson who staked his claim by clinching the gold medal for Team GB at the inaugural European Games at Baku 2015. Benson will no doubt be hoping that Rio 2016 will help him secure a place at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Welsh stars Non Stanford and Helen Jenkins take the final two remaining spots in the GB triathlon team at Rio.
